HP ProBook 440 G7 - i5 10th Gen, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

A newer processor for less money than the EliteBooks, with a plainer body to pay for it. The ProBook 440 G7 carries a 10th generation Core i5, which is two generations ahead of the 840 G5 and G6 units on this page, paired here with 8GB and a 256GB SSD. In everyday use that difference shows up mostly in efficiency rather than raw speed, but it is a genuinely newer machine. The chassis is part aluminium, part plastic, and it is not built to the same standard as an EliteBook. This one has light scratches on the lid, a mark near the webcam bezel, and no keyboard backlight fitted, which is worth knowing before you buy rather than after. Corners are intact and nothing is loose. Battery covers a working morning. Ethernet was tested along with everything else. This is the machine for a buyer who reads specifications carefully and does not care much about the badge, which describes a fair number of the people who walk into the shop. One further note: the memory is on a socket, so if 8GB proves tight later it can be doubled without replacing the machine, and that is worth knowing when comparing it against sealed units.
