HP EliteBook 840 G5 - i5 8th Gen, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

The G5 is the previous generation of the same design and it is where the value sits. Externally almost nothing separates it from the G6 units above, the keyboard is the same excellent one, the aluminium shell is the same, and the price is several thousand lower. This one runs an 8th generation Core i5 with 8GB and a 256GB SSD. In testing the panel came back clear apart from a slightly uneven backlight along the very bottom edge, which is visible only on a dark image and never during normal work. There is polish on the space bar, light dents on the front lip, and the docking connector underneath is present and clean if you already own a dock. Battery backup is modest and this is a machine that will spend most of its time on a desk. Windows 10 Pro is installed on it as it came; ask on WhatsApp whether this particular unit qualifies for 11 before you decide. A dependable everyday laptop for an office that needs several without spending heavily on each.
