Dell Latitude 7400 - i7 8th Gen, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD

The 7400 was Dell's thin business flagship before the 5000 series caught up, and it still feels like it. It weighs noticeably less than most 14-inch machines on this shelf, the carbon fibre lid does not flex, and it charges over USB-C from either side, which matters more in daily use than the spec sheet suggests. This one carries an 8th generation Core i7 with 16GB of memory and a 512GB drive. An 8th generation i7 remains a serious processor for anything short of video rendering, and paired with that much memory it does not stumble. Cycle count is low and the health reading is high, an unusual combination on a machine of this generation and the best evidence we have that this one was looked after. No dead pixels turned up in testing. We checked charging on both USB-C ports, the HDMI, the headphone jack and the webcam privacy shutter. Suited to anyone who carries a laptop between sites rather than leaving it on one desk. The one caveat is memory upgrades. Sixteen gigabytes is already fitted and there is no second slot on this model, so what you see is what it will always have.
