Lenovo ThinkPad T480 - i5 8th Gen, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

The T480 is the last ThinkPad with the removable battery and it is the reason people still ask for it by name. There are two batteries in this machine, an internal one and a removable pack underneath, and the pack can be changed without opening the case at all. Both were tested and the combined backup is still fair, though neither is new. Specification is an 8th generation Core i5 with 8GB and a 256GB SSD, and this chassis takes a second drive as well as more memory, so it can be improved later rather than replaced. The keyboard is the best on this page and the TrackPoint works. Cosmetically the black chassis is scuffed at the corners and there is a faint mark at the lower left of the matte panel, along with some shine on the letter keys. Nothing is loose. Ethernet and both USB-C ports were confirmed. If you want a machine you can keep working on for years and repair rather than discard, this is the one to look at first. One caution on the removable pack: replacements for it are getting harder to find, so treat the backup you get today as roughly what you will have tomorrow.
